Blind Forklift Operator Turns 62, Denied Birthday Cake

CELINA, TN — Celina 52 Truck Stop celebrated the 62nd birthday of blind forklift operator Donny Day on Tuesday. Management withheld all baked goods out of respect for his severe diabetes. They opted instead to honor the milestone by letting him run his heavy machinery shift completely unsupervised. Day was hired in 2007 after impressing the Herniple family with his ability to breathe independently, consume solid food, and mumble.
Put up for adoption immediately at birth due to his vision issues, Day eventually became the premiere sightless logistics specialist in the county. Because he only responds to sign language, warehouse staff wished him a happy birthday through a series of elaborate hand gestures he could not see. He finished his shift by navigating freight by sound alone—returning from his afternoon break covered in unexplained lacerations.
